GreenFire Energy Listed in Lux Research, Energy’s 2020 Mid-Term Update: The Best Tech Startups & Ground Breaking Developments

GreenFire Energy Inc. today announced that it has been listed in Lux Research, Energy’s 2020 Midterm Update: The Best Tech Startups & Ground Breaking Developments blog by Yuan-Sheng Yu, Senior Analyst, Lux Research. The blog identified top energy companies with a positive rating thus far this year, and GreenFire Energy was in the Thermal Power Generation category. According to the blog the list represents “which companies rose to the top during an event-filled 2019 in the energy transition.”

GreenFire Energy completed the world’s first field-scale demonstration of closed-loop geothermal energy production in 2019. The demonstration was performed using an inactive well at the Coso geothermal field in Coso, California, USA. The project showed that GreenFire Energy’s closed-loop technology, called GreenFire Energy GreenLoop, can run successfully at field-scale and generated data to verify the company’s modeling of technical performance in a variety of real-world applications. The demonstration showed that GreenLoop has the ability to retrofit idle geothermal wells to become productive and validated the further development of the technology for use in hot, dry rock geothermal resources where conventional geothermal systems cannot be employed.

“GreenFire Energy is excited to be listed as one of the select energy companies to receive a Positive rating from Lux Research this year. Our field-scale demonstration of our closed-loop technology and deep intellectual property has generated tremendous interest in geothermal power production and industrial applications, particularly, hydrogen production. Our technology will expand access to geothermal energy sources and have many applications,” said Joseph Scherer, chief executive officer, GreenFire Energy Inc.
