Joseph Scherer

Joe has led GreenFire Energy since 2014 taking it from a start-up to a high-growth, worldwide company. He led the first field-scale demonstration of closed-loop geothermal technology at the Coso geothermal field, co-authored numerous research papers, presented at conferences, and headed funding rounds. He practiced law for 33 years at Cooley LLP law where he led international and domestic project finance transactions and the Credit Finance practice. Joe holds a B.A. from the University of California, Davis, in Economics and graduated as Phi Beta Kappa. Joe has a J.D. and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he received the John M. Olin Fellowship for law and economics each year.
